Why don’t they just have the instructions as to how to do it?

It points me to the git repositories but does not say where I should put them. So I find this page Download Libraries | KiCad EDA The instructions did not install the v6 libraries? (base) did everything the instructions said. Kicad-libraries is already the newest version (6.0.0-1-202112231422+8~ubuntu20.04.1).Ġ upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. So I just tried to install kicad-libraries I did do the full installation so I understood I did not have to install kicad-libraries ** kicad-doc-XX: documentation in your language. ** kicad-symbols, kicad-templates, kicad-footprints, kicad-packages3d: if you want to manually select what library to install.*Īdditional packages can be also installed according your language: ** kicad-libraries: a virtual package that will recommend you to install footprints, symbols, templates and 3D* If you don’t do a “full installation” you should be interested to install also: * *sudo apt install -no-install-recommends kicad* * If you don’t want to install all packages you can use: This will perform a full installation of KiCad. * *sudo add-apt-repository -yes ppa:kicad/kicad-6.0-releases* *sudo apt update* *sudo apt install -install-recommends kicad* *# If you want demo projects* *sudo apt install kicad-demos* * " If you prefer to use the shell, you can enter these commands into a terminal: I followed the instructions from Install on Linux Mint | KiCad EDA I am very disappointed with this version. I cannot mess around with 6 for hours and get nowhere. I have to go back to 5 to try to get some work done. But the Library path uses $4xxx.kicad_sym but that did not work either. The symbols are in /usr/share/kicad/symbols/ directory I checked.
